YOUTH GET ARRESTED IN KRG FOR THEIR OUTFIT AND LOOK
Dawran Mahmoud’s News From KRG
Yesterday I had been detained again by PDK’s (Kurdistan Democratic Party) chekpoint, Because of my outfit, look and body. Meanwhile they claimed that they were confused that my outfit, look and body seemed like outfit, look and body of Guerrillas, Journalists, refugees or Rojavayis.
Even one of them even swore that I’m PKK’s Guerilla.
To date. It’s the second time I get detained by the PDK’s checkpoint due to the outfit, look and body that i have with me. Out of ordinary, both of the checkpoints were at a place in area that I spent most of my life in, and have most of my akin there.
Ballakayati and Qandil mountains. It is burdensome for me to feel self-conscious and disquieting for not being able to live voluntarily in the villages, or even the forests that your parents grew up in. Only because of the look I have, the outfit and shoes I love, the athletic body I chose to cover my skeleton.
Noteworthy, i have been once incarcerated and arrested by PUK’s Asaish (Armed Security Forces of Patriotic Union Of Kurdistan) for two days in prison and had my trial because I organized a mass group of students in the university’s campus of Sulaymaniyah to protest despotism. I had been named and accused of being one of PKK’s member or their journalist. There again, one of the reasons was my look and outfit.
i had things being took by them like my headphones, paint brushes, canteen and even they once unfolded all of my cigarettes.
There is a weird answer for this question I ask. Is it valid to be politicalized by the color and style of the clothes you wear and the body you get by your eating system?
