20 April 2022, Johannesburg, South Africa – The Professional speakers Association of Southern Africa (PSASA) has crowned the next Speaker Factor Champion for 2022, Nick Smit.
Nick Smit, also known as the The Rebel Ninja, is a speaker, local business owner and educator, presented his winning speech titled ‘Dance Your Destiny’ at the PSASA annual convention in Irene on Friday 17th April. He won over the other two finalists who were promoted to the finals from the regional and semi-final competitions earlier in the year.
Nick is no stranger to the spotlight, as he is a vocal advocate for the disabled community and has garnered a social following through his salsa dancing, speaking and Smergos, a company that specializes in disability awareness and inclusion.
Living with Cerebral Palsy with left Hemiplegia, Nick is continually challenging himself and breaking boundaries. Having participated in the PSASA competition in 2020 and placing third, inspired Nick to forge ahead as he explains, “I’m extremely driven and resilient. If I set a goal for myself, I give it my all, learn from my mistakes and keep going.”
From here Nick’s next goal is to inspire and empower 10 000 people with his D.A.N.C.E. Your Destiny topic and from there the sky is the limit as Smit believes “The greatest risk is not taking one.” (Tim Fargo)
