Under the agreement, unemployed youth, school-leavers and people re-integrating into the job market will be able to gain work experience in site, room, bicycle and waste management at the UvA and AUAS/HvA. This work experience, which is part of a broader rehabilitation programme, will improve their prospects when re-entering the job market. Over the longer term, Pantar will begin offering work placement and research positions to UvA and AUAS/HvA students with an interest in social issues and problems affecting young people.
Sustainable furniture
Additionally, the UvA will be providing used wood from pallets and other materials to Goed Gemaakt, a subdivision of Pantar. This is a carpentry workshop employing school-leavers and people re-integrating into the job market and is specialised in the production of new furniture – such as conference tables and cabinets – from recycled material. This recycled furniture could then be given a new lease on life at the UvA and AUAS/HvA.
