Conditions in Egypt are very troubled and unstable. For this reason the foreign ministry had already advised against travel to most parts of Egypt. The resorts are located far from the centres of the disturbances, but in view of the uncertain situation the minister is modifying the travel advice as a precautionary measure.

Travellers must judge for themselves whether their planned trip is necessary. The ministry advises Dutch nationals who are just about to go on holiday, or are already on holiday in the resorts, to contact their tour operator.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is constantly monitoring the security situation. Two staff members will arrive this evening in Hurghada and Sharm el Sheikh to assess conditions on the spot. The Dutch embassy and foreign ministry are also staying in close communication with other EU countries. This travel advisory is in line with those of most other EU states.
