Kyoto: FUZZYEYES announces that anticipated game “Edge of Twilight” is to undergo crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo for the sake of accumulating fees for obtaining licenses and for debugging tests, allowing for independent release.
Indie game developer FUZZYEYES is to launch a crowdfunding campaign for the long-anticipated and long-delayed “Edge of Twilight – Return to Glory.” The Indiegogo campaign aims to acquire funds for an independent release. The steampunk-themed game spent 10 years in development and includes voiceovers by Hollywood stars such as Mike Patton. Should the campaign prove successful, Edge of Twilight will be released for PC, PS4, Xbox One Xbox 360, PS3 & NVIDIA Shield 2 (Android).
Involved in the development process was a talent pool of 200+ people from Australia, Japan, Taiwan and New Zealand. While the game is technically complete, certain despites about the future of Edge of Twilight has prevented the game from reaching stores.
“Our game is 99 percent complete, and we would have released it much earlier had we not run into complications about the future of this project and franchise,” states Lu,Wei-Yao, CEO of FUZZYEYES GROUP. “The costs involved in this game’s development have been enormous, especially with the inclusion of Hollywood celebrities as voice actors. Luckily, 99% of the costs have already been accounted for; what’s left is simply the last debugging test and license fees. The videogame business is still a business – we have to release the game properly and legally. We love our fans, and they have been following us for over a decade now. We believe their support through this crowdfunding campaign will allow us to finally release Edge of Twilight to them.”
The company has set its goal at $350,000 USD, which would allow for a June release. Upon meeting the target, Edge of Twilight be released initially for PC and later for Android and the major consoles. FUZZYEYES has already submit Edge of Twilight to Steam’s Greenlight platform, on which gamers can vote for the next games to be available on Steam. Edge of Twilight is set in post-apocalyptic world divided into two parallel realms: night and day. The player will take the role of Lex, a half-breed outcast bounty-hunter caught in the midst of a war driven by the demand for the world’s energy source, “Ether.” As the world’s only living halfbreed, Lex can enter both the night and day realms, allowing the player to obtain unique powers and solve puzzles.
Backers to the “Edge of Twilight” Indiegogo project can obtain perks including early bird price Steam codes for the game, game posters, cards, the inclusion of their names in the game’s credits, limited collector’s edition DVD game packs, limited music CDs on the game’s soundtrack, and even limited offer coffee mugs. Two perks of note are the limited edition Edge of Twilight art book and an invitation to the team’s Steampunk-themed release party at the Tokyo Game Show.
