With this in mind, Bosch has been offering practical training sessions for a number of years as part of its technical service training offer. This training offer has now been supplemented with a range of online training courses, which allow vehicle mechatronics engineers to build up basic theoretical knowledge using a computer in the workplace or from the comfort of their own home.

Bosch has also expanded the range of training courses available and arranged them according to subject area on the new Automotive Campus online learning platform. Vehicle mechatronics engineers can use this learning platform to access a wide range of online training courses, including web-based training, virtual diagnosis simulations and multimedia presentations.

In addition, classroom-based training courses for workshop associates can also be booked and managed online via the Automotive Campus. All vehicle workshops and their associates need to do is register at www.automotive-campus.com to gain access to the platform. The online system itself is free to use, and there are also a number of free online training courses available to give users the opportunity to try out the new courses on offer. The online training courses are available in English and German, and can be accessed and completed anywhere in the world.

Online Training Teaches Basic Knowledge, Supports Classroom-Based Training and Provides Practical Examples

The online training courses available on the Automotive Campus learning platform offer workshops a cost-effective way of building on their associates’ expertise. Associates attending classroom-based courses at Bosch training centers are already armed with the basic theoretical knowledge that they learned online, meaning that the classroom-based courses can be completed in a shorter time. The online training courses, such as web-based training, teach basic knowledge on a wide range of different topics. At the end of a one to two-hour online training course, vehicle mechatronics engineers can evaluate what they have learned by taking a test.

“Virtual diagnosis simulations” give users the opportunity to experience and work through everyday situations that occur in the workshop, such as performing troubleshooting on a particular vehicle system using Bosch diagnostics systems, on the computer. Multimedia presentations help users to brush up on their knowledge of vehicle system design, diagnosis options and technical innovations using a specific vehicle as an example. All online training courses can be purchased and accessed via the Bosch Automotive Campus.

The Automotive Campus also allows users to view training content and to book, cancel and manage bookings for classroom-based training courses. Workshop associates have their own area on the Automotive Campus learning platform where they can view any training courses that they are booked on or have already completed. In addition, workshop managers are able to view their associates’ training history. Classroom-based training courses are currently available to workshops in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, and plans are in place to make these courses available to workshops in the UK in the future.
