MasterCard will donate 1 ruble to Stand Up To Cancer for every payment made until June 30th with MasterCard PayPass in any amount at points of sale throughout the country. All holders of cards and other devices (watches, stickers, smartphones etc.) with MasterCard PayPass technology will be able to contribute to the campaign simply by making everyday purchases.

Ilya Riaby, Country Head of MasterCard in Russia, underlined: “Being socially responsible we do care about the world we are living in. We strive to make it better and our charity campaign Doing Good in One Touch Is Priceless proves it. There are millions of cardholders in Russia and we have a powerful tool to attract people’s attention to the cancer issue and bring them together to rid it. In 2014 all holders of cards and other devices with MasterCard PayPass technology will be able to contribute to the campaign simply by making everyday purchases.”

Rusty Robertson, co-founder, Stand Up To Cancer, commented, “It is an honor to begin our campaign’s second year of Stand Up To Cancer with MasterCard Russia. Stand Up To Cancer brings people together all over the world through collaboration, acceleration and standing together to rid the world of this disease. With MasterCard leading the way, and by simply using your MasterCard PayPass from April to June, new therapies and research will be brought to the people of Russia.”

Stand Up To Cancer, a charitable program, sets its mission to accelerate innovative research in cancer treatment and shorten the time between new treatment methods development and their application in practice.

MasterCard conducted its first nationwide charity campaign in Russia in 2013. As a result, 34 million rubles were donated to scientific research. Translational Research in Oncology [TRIO], through a grant from Stand Up To Cancer, has successfully begun to support Russian institutions for their work in conducting clinical trials for breast cancer in Moscow. The first study being supported involves the assessment of a new method of curing frequent breast cancer subtype. The study recently opened in Russia and Russian investigators are rapidly screening, enrolling and working with the study patients.

In addition, an epidemiologic study collecting data on the current real life treatment practices for breast cancer has begun. Over the next year, data from many Russian regions will be collected and analyzed. You can learn more at www.vmesterprotivraka.ru.

Famous Russian actors, musicians and journalists support the Stand Up To Cancer initiative. This year’s ambassadors include actresses Marina Aleksandrova and Daria Moroz and recording artist Emin.

Partners of the Doing Good in One Touch Is Priceless campaign include: Russian and international banks, supermarkets, telecom operators, coffee houses, fast-food restaurants, gas stations, health clinics, transportation operators, and others*. All partners support the MasterCard PayPass contactless payment technology and, in conjunction with MasterCard, are dedicated to attracting public attention to the necessity of joining efforts in fighting cancer.

MasterCard PayPass lets make everyday purchases fast, easy and safe. No signature or PIN is needed if the purchase amount does not exceed 1000 rubles.
