The new landmark store is expected to create up to 42 new jobs for the local community and will cover over 7,000 square foot of retailing space, providing shoppers in the centre of Birmingham with Poundland’s fantastic offering across a wide range of shopping categories. These include food and drink, health and beauty, household, gardening, DIY, pet, stationery, books, DVDs and toys alongside over 1000 well known brands. Celebrity Jane Asher, who will soon be launching Poundland’s new bake ware range, will be at the store on November 28th to mark the occasion and will be signing autographs.
This opening is the latest highlight in a recent expansion drive which will see 21 new Poundland stores open in just five weeks, bringing the single price retail proposition and amazing value to thousands more customers in the run up to Christmas in a variety of locations nationwide. As well as supporting the economy with the creation of over 500 new jobs.
Poundland has grown rapidly since its first store opened in Burton on Trent in 1990, with the business now reporting annual gross revenues close to £1 billion, with over 12,000 colleagues serving 5 million customers every week.
