This year main priority under the Annual work plan 2013 was to improve the early diagnosis of HIV/AIDS and to provide timely treatment and care for both vulnerable groups and priority regions. The high prevalence of HIV/AIDS in populations most at risk is a major problem in Europe. Reaching out to these groups with appropriate prevention, diagnosis and treatment is important to reduce the transmission of HIV/AIDS.
The EU Health Programme funds actions joining experts from governmental and civil society organisations, health professionals, social scientists, researchers, policy makers and people living with HIV, to better understand the current situation and define priorities for responding to the epidemic in Europe.
The HIV/AIDS prevention projects list (mapping of HIV projects) can be consulted here and further information can be found on the EAHC projects database.
