Since 2011, the GDF SUEZ Foundation is committed to the Museum to support the program of participatory science Vigie-Nature. By renewing this agreement, the Group intends to continue its support for this program through three actions:

  • Its adaptation to the schools with the project “Nature Vigie schools “to educate teachers and students to the scientific process by providing access to Vigie-Nature 6 million students in school programs.
  • Specific actions animation of the partnership between the Foundation and its partners and Museum, based on events and prestigious sites of the Museum.

Vigie-Nature is open to all curious by nature program, from beginner to experienced. It aims to collect qualitative and quantitative information on the status of fauna and flora in France. The objective is to observe the species increase or decrease depending on the region, the impact of climate change and the impact of human activities on biodiversity. The Vigie-Nature project includes sixteen observatories, over 1,500 observers naturalists and nearly 4,500 observers from the general public.

The signing of this partnership is part of the “Biodiversity and Climate” program of the GDF SUEZ Foundation which focuses on issues of biodiversity, ecosystem protection and the fight against global warming. This partnership has resulted in support for the realization of the garden of Val Rahmeh in 2000 in Menton, the enrichment of polar Malaurie Fund (2002-2007 – Documentation dedicated to the Arctic and Antarctic areas to allow researchers , students and the general public access to unique sources of information in France and in the world), to the set preparation Grandes Serres opened in 2010 and the renovation of the School of Botany inaugurated in 2011.

“I wanted to tell you how proud of this partnership with a scientific institution except that combines over 300 years research and public service. This is a strong bond that unites us as this partnership also echoes partnerships or joint actions with the MNHN conducted by subsidiaries of GDF SUEZ – Sita Ile-de-France, GRTgaz GrDF. The Vigie-Nature program that unites us is a great tool for understanding the evolution of biodiversity in the face of global change, to educate the general public but also our employees and allow them to act eco-citizens. Be useful to men, is to live a world of energy ” said Valérie Bernis.
