‘TOO EMBARRASSED’ CONUNDRUM TURNED ON ITS HEAD
Recent research showed that one in every four students would be too embarrassed to tell friends they were considering banking as their career of choice. Turning that theory firmly on its head – over 70% of Scholars graduating from the inaugural Programme this year have immediately joined the Group’s Graduate Leadership Programme, allaying some of the fears of a future talent drain in banking.
Graham Lindsay, Group Director, Responsible Business at Lloyds Banking Group, said: “All of our Scholars have benefitted from internships and senior mentoring from the widest range of areas and people across the Group. The unique insight they will have accumulated during their time with us includes how we do business and treat our colleagues – right through to our resolve to do more to help our communities. Having 70% of Scholars choose to remain with the Group lays testimony, I believe, to our shared belief that the Group is committed to investing in the long-term economic future of the UK and helping Britain prosper.”
