The draws for the semi-finals of the 2012/13 UEFA club competitions will take place on Friday 12 April at the House of European Football in Nyon, Switzerland.
The draws for both competitions will be done in one session, which will start at 12.00CET. They will be conducted by the UEFA General Secretary, Gianni Infantino, and UEFA’s director of competitions, Giorgio Marchetti, assisted by 2013 UEFA Europa League final ambassador Patrick Kluivert, and three-time UEFA Champions League top scorer Ruud van Nistelrooy.
The open draw will start with the UEFA Europa League semi-final ties, involving the four winners from the quarter-finals. As for the quarter-finals, no teams are seeded and clubs from the same national association may be drawn against each other. The semi-finals are played on a home-and-away basis, with the first legs played on Thursday 25 April and the return legs the following week, on Thursday 2 May. For administrative purposes, the last step of the draw will define whether the winner of semi-final 1 or the winner of semi-final 2 will be considered as the “home” team at the final. The 2013 UEFA Europa League final will be played on Wednesday 15 May at Amsterdam ArenA, kicking off at 20.45CET.
The same procedure will apply to the draw of the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League, which will be played on Tuesday 23 and Wednesday 24 April and the return legs on Tuesday 30 April and Wednesday 1 May. The 2013 UEFA Champions League final will be played on Saturday 25 May 2013 at Wembley Stadium in London, kicking off at 19.45 local time (20.45CET).
Media representatives wishing to attend the draws are requested to apply via email to fame_accreditations@uefa.ch before 12.00CET on Thursday 11 April, mentioning “Club draws” in the subject line.
A live feed from the draw will be available in the media working area, which is also equipped with a Wi-Fi facility.
Both UEFA club competition draws will be broadcast live on UEFA.com and on Eurosport.
