Fran Harper, an Australian business coach, keynote speaker, best-selling author and host of the podcast “What I Wish I Knew at 30,” has formalized her coaching approach into a named methodology, Identity Architecture™, aimed at professionals who have reached conventional markers of success but privately sense that something no longer fits.
The framework grew out of Harper’s own experience navigating the unexpected closure of a family business before founding Paramount 21. That transition, she says, reshaped her understanding of how identity, not just strategy or habits, determines whether success actually feels sustainable.
“A lot of high achievers do the work leadership training, new habits, mindset shifts and see real results for a while,” Harper said. “Then old patterns creep back in. That’s rarely a discipline problem. It’s usually an identity problem, and no amount of tactics fixes it until that’s addressed.”
Identity Architecture™ is built around helping clients distinguish between mindset-level coaching, which focuses on thoughts and behaviours, and identity-level work, which addresses the underlying sense of self driving those patterns. Harper argues that lasting change in leadership, career direction and personal fulfillment tends to follow the latter.
The methodology has taken shape alongside Harper’s podcast, “What I Wish I Knew at 30,” which has featured conversations with figures including designer and educator Chris Do, hospitality executive Peter Wright, World Seafood Champion John McFadden, and Philip Wilkinson OBE, a former food industry CEO. Episodes explore how resilience, self-awareness and identity shifts have shaped each guest’s career, spanning industries from sport and hospitality to media and social enterprise.
Harper regularly speaks and consults with leaders and founders on applying the Identity Architecture™ framework to workplace culture, leadership development and personal reinvention. She continues to publish written analysis of the method through her blog and to release new podcast episodes on major audio and video platforms.
