As Chairman of the YUMP-candidate selection committee, Philippe Salle, the Chairman and Chief Executive of the Altran Group, declared: “It is logical that Altran should want to back this initiative which is geared to identifying and providing operational support to candidates with the most promising company projects. Altran, like YUMP, selects and develops the skills of those who are the most talented and driven by a real entrepreneurial spirit to ensure that our clients’ ideas and projects become an industrial reality. ”
In the coming year, the Academy will undergo a period of incubation and the YUMP-partners network will be formed. During this time, Altran will provide the laureates with the support they need to fulfil the conditions relative to work and value creation. Among other things, Altran will help in the drafting of business plans, seeking partners and identifying ecosystems offering the possibility of building up networks.
YUMP is an international start-up accelerator programme launched successfully in Sweden in 2008 to boost entrepreneurial projects in working-class areas. The programme was then deployed outside Sweden for the first time in France (Paris), where it has undergone further developments over the past two years. Trainees completing the initial 6-month YUMP training programme, receive support for another five years.
For businesses created within the context of the Academy, development assistance and counselling is provided. A board of directors will also be set up to ensure that business leaders receive support, as well as to act in a watchdog capacity notably for the purposes of obtaining the necessary financing.
