Previously, there was no specific threat to the embassy. Because of the deteriorating security situation in Yemen, it had been decided to close the embassy and to work with a core staff of four people. Embassy staff posted from the Netherlands and Dutch security personnel, 12 people in total, have since left the country.

This is a temporary measure. At the beginning of next week, after Eid al-Fitr, the situation will be reviewed. It is still possible to contact the Dutch authorities via an emergency number that is routed to lines outside Yemen. The Dutch community in Yemen has been notified of the departure of embassy staff.
