- Tesco picked up two awards last night at the prestigious industry Retail Week Awards, including Best Grocer.
Noting a “landmark year” for Tesco, the judges highlighted how the business “has won back the hearts and minds of its core customer”, with “sales, profits and loyalty all returning”.
The “scale of the changes, the success achieved and the renewed vigour evident” over the past year was also noted by the judges as they made the award.
Alessandra Bellini, Chief Customer Officer at Tesco, said:
“This award is testament to all of our colleagues’ hard work and brilliance over the past couple of years. It’s been inspiring to see our team come together to serve shoppers a little better every day, and achieve so much.”
Tesco also picked up the Customer Innovation award with Spoon Guru, for its work to help customers with specific diets and tastes find the right food online, quickly and easily.
Adding Spoon Guru’s online technology and expertise to Tesco.com has meant that customers can now filter their food searches to reflect food intolerances and dietary requirements, including vegetarian, vegan, low fat and low salt.
It marks another step in Tesco’s efforts to make healthier choices a little easier for customers, colleagues and communities across the UK.
