- Tata Power Solar, India’s largest integrated solar company, has won the ‘Rooftop Solar Power Project ’ award from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) in the channel partner / EPC contractor category. The National Excellence Awards 2016, instituted by MNRE for the first time, were presented on June 7, 2016, at the National Workshop on Rooftop Solar Power.
Tata Power Solar has commissioned 112.5 MW of rooftop projects till 2016, which was instrumental in getting this award.
As per MNRE, the awards are presented to encourage efficiency and provide positive feedback to various government bodies as well as the private sector. Rooftop power plants are expected to constitute 40 percent of the government’s 100 GW target solar capacity to be achieved by 2022. Recently, MNRE announced a 30 percent subsidy for all residential and non-profit organis ations installing rooftop solar projects.
Two of Tata Power Solar’s rooftop installations were also adjudged winners at the National Excellence Awards 2016. These included the 12 MW installation for R S S B Educational & Environmental Society (RSSB-EES) and the 1.8 MW solar project commissioned for IIT Roorkee.
