  • Tata Power, India’s largest integrated power company, has always encouraged and supported the young athletes of the country by providing them with opportunities and infrastructure. In celebration of the spirit of sportsmanship, Tata Power has launched an interactive social media campaign titled ‘Wish the Rio Stars’ to cheer and wish luck to India’s 120 strong contingent at the ongoing Rio Olympics. The campaign has been rolled out to the company’s social media platforms on Facebook and Twitter.

The objective of the campaign is to catalyse conversations around the Olympics by building awareness and creating excitement around the tournament, thereby, generating mass support for the Indian Olympic squad at Rio. The interactive campaign invites people to share their best wishes through posts (text or images) and videos on Tata Power’s social media platforms. Ten best messages from the lot would be shortlisted and shared with the Indian squad at Rio, and would be gifted with vouchers.

The campaign is spearheaded by ex-Olympian and Tata Power employee Clarence Lobo. Mr Lobo represented the Indian Hockey team at the London Olympics 2012 and won Gold at the Asia Cup in 2009, Silver at Commonwealth Games in 2010, Bronze at Asian Games, and has led the Indian Hockey Senior team as a coach from 2007 to 2013.

Sharing his enthusiasm, Anil Sardana, CEO and managing director, Tata Power, said “The fact that India has sent its largest ever contingent to the 2016 Olympics is indeed a matter of pride for all of us. I believe we, as a country, need to respect and support our nation. Through our campaign ‘Wish the Rio Stars’, we wish to play the role of a catalyst and drive conversations around Olympics, and provide the people with a platform to get their encouraging messages across to our athletes. I wish the very best to all the sport stars representing India in this prestigious event, and hope they will make the tri-colour fly high though their incredible performances”.

Commenting on the campaign, Mr Lobo said, “Join me with Tata Power in wishing Indian sports stars participating in Rio Olympics. Encouraging words of the nation will surely power their performance.”
