- Tata Power Delhi Distribution (TPDDL) has been conferred with three prestigious Skoch Awards at the 46th Skoch Summit held at the Constitution Club of India, New Delhi.
TPDDL’s project ‘Empowering Women beyond Boundaries’ won ‘Skoch Silver Award’ and ‘Order of Merit Award’ under the Blue Economy category while its implementation of ‘DISCOM Driven Renewable Energy Efficiency Program’ won the ‘Order of Merit Award’.
TPDDL has been standing tall for women empowerment and has set out to educate and empower lakhs of women residing in over 220 JJ Clusters in its area of distribution through focused social innovation initiatives. Through its women literacy and vocational training programmes the company is bringing lasting changes in the lives of the underprivileged women. Besides this, through 290 self-help groups where women are partly employed in various door-to-door selling services like bill payment collection, selling homemade items, etc. TPDDL is assisting them in achieving financial independence.
On the renewable energy front too, TPDDL has been taking several innovative and positive steps to promote sustainable energy development through its initiatives like roof top solar, demand side management (DSM) and ESCO programmes both for domestic and industrial consumers.
Speaking on the occasion, Praveer Sinha, CEO and MD, TPDDL, said, “It’s a great honour and privilege to win the prestigious Skoch Awards. The award for renewable energy efficiency programme bears testimony to our efforts towards adopting and implementing the latest energy efficient technologies for environmental good. On the other hand, the recognition under social empowerment category distinguishes our focussed social innovation initiatives for youth and women empowerment. I am sure these recognitions will further strengthen our resolve to keep doing the good work for the development of the power distribution sector and for the benefit of the society at large.”
The Skoch Awards are the highest independent benchmark of best practices in India in the fields of governance, finance, banking, technology, corporate citizenship, economics and inclusive growth with this year’s theme being – Smart Technologies, Sustainable Growth.
