- The Minister of Power, Government of India, Piyush Goyal awarded Tata Power Delhi Distribution (Tata Power-DDL) for its significant contribution towards the transformation of the power sector in the country.
Praveer Sinha, CEO and MD, Tata Power-DDL, received the award from the minister at the 4th Annual Economic Times Power Focus Summit held today at the Hotel Grand, New Delhi, in the presence of Babul Supriyo, MoS, Heavy industries and Public Enterprise, GoI, and several power sector experts.
While receiving the award, Mr Sinha said, “It’s a great honour and privilege to receive this prestigious recognition. The award bears testimony to our efforts towards adopting and implementing the latest energy efficient distribution technologies for consumer benefit and environmental good. The supply reliability, quality of power and services offered by Tata Power-DDL are one of the best not only in the country but by international standards too. Today’s award adds another feather in our cap and motivates us to continue the good work in the future as well.”
Mr Sinha has over 30 years of experience in the power sector. He is a strong votary of usage of technology and smart grid initiatives including demand response, demand side management and roof top solar energy in meeting with India’s rising energy demand. Under the leadership of Mr Sinha, Tata Power-DDL has taken various unique initiatives and attained milestones in many areas including drastic reduction in AT&C Loss levels. Today at Tata Power-DDL, AT&C losses stand at 8.88 percent which is an unprecedented reduction of around 82 percent from an opening loss level of 53 percent in July 2002.
