The village was facing frequent power cuts that hampered studies of students. It also affected ladies who were unable to do day-to-day house work due to power cuts mainly in evening hours. Tata Power Skill Development Institute inaugurates ‘Skills on Wheels’

The objective of launching Skills on Wheels is to provide trainings to neighborhood electricians by making training opportunities more accessible to them. It is essentially a 16 x 8 x 8.6 ft mobile container designed to seat 12 trainees at a time. At one end of the container is the Neighborhood Electricians’ simulator for testing (NEST), which contains multiple electrical points commonly found in typical Indian homes. The project is in line with the Government of India’s electrification programme which aims to provide "electricity to all" by establishing a standalone off-grid village electrification system where grid supply has not reached or is not feasible.
