A new partnership to drive renewable energy growth in the U.S.

google.renewable.energy.2017

Through this program, Google will procure 78.8 megawatts (MW) of solar energy for our Douglas County, Georgia data center, as part of our effort to utilize renewable energy in every market where we operate. As we build and expand data centers and offices to meet growing demand for Google’s products, we constantly add renewable energy to our portfolio to match 100 percent of our energy use. This program, the first of its kind in Georgia, greenlights the construction of two solar energy projects with a total capacity of 177MW. When these new p... Read More »

Meeting our match: Buying 100 percent renewable energy

df (1)

Google’s total purchase of energy from sources like wind and solar exceeded the amount of electricity used by our operations around the world, including offices and data centers. What do we mean by “matching” renewable energy? Over the course of 2017, across the globe, for every kilowatt hour of electricity we consumed, we purchased a kilowatt hour of renewable energy from a wind or solar farm that was built specifically for Google. This makes us the first public Cloud, and company of our size, to have achieved this feat. Today, we have c... Read More »

CBS: Sharp increase in the share of renewable energy

gaz

This is substantially more than the 4.8 percent of 2013 and the sharpest increase in recent years. The Dutch target is 14 percent renewable energy in 2020. Share of renewable energy up due to decrease in total consumption Some 0.5 percent point of the remarkable 0.8 percent point increase of 2014 on 2013 is due to a decrease in total final energy consumption and the rest to an increase in renewable energy consumption. Consumption was lower because less natural gas was consumed due to the warm weather in 2014. The sales of motor fuels also... Read More »

H&M among the leading green power users in the U.S.

nature3

H&M appears as No. 32 on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA's) National Top 100 list of the largest green power users. H&M is using nearly 172 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of green power annually, which is enough green power to meet 100 percent of the organization's electricity use. This demonstrates a proactive choice to switch away from traditional sources of electricity generation and support cleaner renewable energy alternatives. In addition to H&M's spot on the National Top 100 list, H&M also appears as No. ... Read More »

SAP: EPA ranks SAP among Top 100 Green Power Users in the U.S.
