Heathrow airport reports record passenger numbers for 2017 due to bigger and fuller planes

A record-breaking 78 million passengers hustled through Heathrow airport in 2017, marking a more than 3 per cent increase on the previous year’s figure, thanks to larger and fuller aircraft flying in and out of the international transport hub. Jaguar Land Rover reports record annual sales

The company said Jaguar sold 178,601 cars, up 20% on the year before, while Land Rover sales rose 2% to 442,508. JLR said sales had more than tripled since 2009. It said this was the seventh successive year of growth, which was driven by the introduction of new models and increased uptake of its clean diesel and petrol engines. Jaguar saw strong demand for the Jaguar F-Pace, XE and XF models, while Land Rover's best-seller for the year was the Discovery Sport, which sold 126,078 vehicles. BMW Motorrad experienced growth in all markets worldwide and was the market leader in 26 countries in the premium segment of motorcycles over 500 cc. Lufthansa Group achieves record number of passengers in 2015


The airlines of the Lufthansa Group transported 107.7 million passengers in 2015, which is a new record. The Group carried 1.6 per cent more passengers than in the previous year. At the same time the company carried out more than one million flights and achieved the highest ever seat load factor of 80.4 per cent. IBM research sets new record for storing massive amounts of big data


At this areal density, a standard LTO size cartridge could store up to 154 trillion bytes (154 terabytes) of uncompressed data — a 62 fold improvement over an LTO6 cartridge, the latest industry-standard magnetic tape product.
