Nestlé CEO Mark Schneider said, “Plastic waste is one of the biggest sustainability issues the world is facing today. Tackling it requires a collective approach. Nestlé leverages wind power in partnership with EDP Renewables in step toward 100% renewable electricity goal


Nestlé in the U.S., in partnership with EDP Renewables (Euronext: EDPR), a global leader in the renewable energy sector and one of the world's largest wind energy producers, today announced a 15-year power purchase agreement that will provide approximately 80 percent of the electricity load for five Nestlé facilities in southeastern Pennsylvania. Nestle sells Crunch, Nerds and other US brands to Ferrero for $2.8bn

The Swiss food giant said it was offloading brands such as Crunch, Nerds, Runts and Butterfinger to focus on other products. Italy's Ferrero, which makes Nutella spread, Tic Tac and Ferrero Rocher, will become the US's third biggest confectionery maker. The deal is expected to go through by March this year. Ferrero said the brands would give it "substantially greater scale" and "a broader offering of high-quality products" for US customers. Nestlé USA Recalls Small Quantity of Häagen-Dazs® Chocolate Dark Chocolate Bars Due to Mismatched Packaging


The recall was initiated after Nestlé learned that Häagen-Dazs Vanilla Milk Chocolate Almond Bars may have been mixed into the Chocolate Dark Chocolate cartons and therefore may pose a risk of undeclared almond allergen to sensitive consumers. The almonds are visible in the chocolate coating, but are not declared in the ingredient statement.
