Tata Power organises awareness session on government schemes for destitute women in Dherand and Shahapur villages in Maharashtra


The objective of this initiative was to sensitise the women in the villages, especially the widows about their rights, and enable them to enroll in government beneficiary schemes. A total of 42 self help group (SHG) members participated in the session which was followed by a form filling exercise. Boeing  forecasts a demand for 1,850 new airplanes in India, valued at $265 billion, over the next 20 years. Primark extends partnership with CottonConnect and the Self-Employed Women’s Association to support 10,000 female smallholders in India


Set up with agricultural experts, CottonConnect, and the Self Employed Women’s Association (SEWA), the three year pilot trained 1,251 women smallholders resulting in an average profit increase of 211%1, which many used to improve household welfare and to invest in education for their children.
