Lufthansa regains place as Europe’s biggest airline from Ryanair

The Lufthansa group as a whole carried 130 million passengers last year, it said on Wednesday. The equivalent figure from Ryanair was 129 million, meaning Ryanair slips behind Lufthansa after overtaking it in 2016. Lufthansa has grown rapidly, having taken over Brussels Airlines at the end of 2016 and aiming to grow its budget brand Eurowings to become Europe’s third largest point-to-point carrier. The group, which also includes Swiss and Austrian Airlines, has also benefited from the collapse of German rival Air Berlin in the latter part of 20... The show, which was a kind of homecoming from the label's Hamburg-born designer, Karl Lagerfeld, took place at the Elbphilharmonie, the city’s showstopping new concert hall, designed by contemporary starchitecture firm Herzog & de Meuron. German spy agency warns of Chinese LinkedIn espionage


The agency alleges that Chinese intelligence used the networking site to target at least 10,000 Germans, possibly to recruit them as informants. It released a number of fake profiles allegedly used for this purpose. BfV head Hans-Georg Maassen said the accounts show China's efforts to subvert top-level German politics. "This is a broad-based attempt to infiltrate in particular parliaments, ministries and government agencies," he said.
