Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China, seizes the top spot on Forbes’ 2018 ranking of The World’s 75 Most Powerful People for the first time ever. Centi-billionaire Jeff Bezos seizes the top spot for the first time. Bezos has a fortune of $112 billion, up $39.2 billion from 2017, the biggest one-year gain ever. Bill Gates, who has been the richest person in the world for 18 of the past 24 years, drops to No. 2 on the Forbes billionaires list. Forbes Media Acquires UK Online Publication, The Memo

Forbes Media announced today the acquisition of the British online business publication, The Memo, for an undisclosed amount. The deal will result in the founding of the first full-fledged editorial team that’s focused on European content, with The Memo’s Founder and Editor, Alex Wood, taking on the role as European Editor. Forbes Benelux will be published bi-monthly in English to start. In the future, it will also be made available in Dutch. Forbes Benelux will be edited in The Netherlands where it will be distributed as well as in Belgium and Luxembourg, with the initial launch in September 2018. Forbes Monaco, a new English language Monaco bi-monthly print and online edition, is scheduled to launch in June 2018.
