Cargolux adds Turkmenbashi to its network

Turkmenbashi becomes Cargolux’s fifth destination in Central Asia, together with Baku, Novosibirsk, Almaty and Tbilisi. The new commercial Cargolux services connect Turkmenistan to the airline’s worldwide network of 90 destinations. Oman Air and Cargolux sign Joint Venture agreement

Oman Air has signed a Joint Venture agreement with Luxembourg-based Cargolux Airlines International SA, Europe’s leading freight carrier and one of the top ten freight carriers in the world. The Joint Venture will create new opportunities for both companies in markets around the world. Cargolux and DB Schenker started the first Indianapolis service in 2005 with a weekly flight and added a second weekly flight the year after. Ten years later, Cargolux serves 15 destinations with healthcare flights for DB Schenker. New Link Between Europe And India The agreement includes an introduction of Cargolux’s full freighter services from Luxembourg to Chennai, India, via Oman. Cargolux named its latest freighter ‘Joe Sutter – Father of the 747’ in honor of the man who designed the 747 in the 1960s. The naming came as a surprise to Mr. Sutter, who only found out during the unveiling of the aircraft during the departure ceremony at Boeing’s Paine Field yesterday. Joe Sutter, born in 1921, joined the Boeing Company in 1940, working at Boeing Plant 2 while studying aeronautical engineering at the University of Washington.
