- The Family Activity day organised by the Partington Library and Wellbeing Centre received a helping hand from Carrington power station construction partners Alstom and DF Energy with a cheque for £200.
The event took place at the end of July and was attended by more than 80 local people from Partington. The money provided equipment for the family crafts session, where families were invited to decorate plant pots which were then filled with herbs and vegetables to be harvested later this year. The plant pots are currently displayed outside the Library and Wellbeing Centre for anyone who wants to take a look. Some of the money from the donation also went towards the cost of providing refreshments from the Rainbow Community Cafe.
Sue Frost, from BlueSci, said: “We were delighted to receive funding for this annual family day from Alstom and DF. It’s important that we involve the community in days such as this and we can already literally see the fruits of our labour as the plant pots are flourishing.”
Anthony Wilson, from Alstom, said: “Events such as these are an integral part of community life in Partington and we were more than happy to offer our support.”
