- This month has seen the launch to the marketplace of European Waterways’ 2016/17 Brochure, featuring a choice of luxury hotel barge cruises in nine European countries – France, Italy, Scotland, Ireland, England, Germany, Belgium, Holland and Luxembourg.
- European Waterways Ltd
The new, full-colour, fully-illustrated brochure, enlarged to 80 pages, highlights all of the company’s 17 vessels, including for the first time the new, double-decker, hotel barge Finesse, which will commence cruising the scenic River Saône and Canal du Centre in Southern Burgundy from May 2016. Built and designed to exacting standards with luxury in mind, Finesse will offer accommodation for up to 8 passengers in four spacious twin or double-bedded suites, each air-conditioned and with beautifully appointed shower-rooms.
Says Derek Banks, European Waterways’ Managing Director: “With impressive new double-page photographs, some taken from the air, that we think really convey the ‘hotel barging experience’, together with detailed maps of the cruising routes and daily itineraries, we are very proud of this new brochure. We believe it provides a detailed insight into the unique and intimate qualities of hotel barging that differentiate the concept from larger-vessel river cruising on Europe’s main arteries.”
He continues: “For people looking to embark on one of our voyages of discovery, the new brochure gets across effectively the serenity and beauty of the charming canals, villages and regional cultural attractions found along the company’s many routes in some of Europe’s most beautiful areas.”
The 6-night voyages include all gourmet meals, fine wines, an open bar, daily escorted excursions, local transfers and use of all onboard facilities such as bicycles and spa pools.
The hotel barge cruising “difference” – varying from that of the more mainstream forms of cruising – provides a relaxed, private house party atmosphere; access to waterways not possible for larger vessels; travelling less than 70 miles at a leisurely pace; and unique experiences such as the Arzviller Boat Elevator in Alsace; Eiffel’s aqueduct over the River Loire; and the Malpas Tunnel on the Canal du Midi.
Groups of friends, or multi-generational families can also charter any of the hotel barges exclusively – perhaps for a special celebration; or a wide selection of themed charter cruises can be arranged, appealing to special interest groups, whether golf, wine appreciation, walking, or tandem barge cruises for larger groups.
