The FrieslandCampina guaranteed price for raw milk for April 2013 is 37.00 euros per 100 kilogrammes of milk. The guaranteed price for April is therefore 2.50 euros above the level of the guaranteed price for March 2013 (34.50 euros).
The increase in the guaranteed price is the result of expected higher milk prices of the reference companies in April, due to the sharp increase in the price of commodities such as skimmed and full-fat milk powder, whey powder and butter in March. These price increases are due to the lower milk supply from New Zealand on the global market, through drought, and trailing milk production in Europe. In addition, part of the increase in the guaranteed price is the result of a correction of an underestimate of the milk prices of the reference companies, due to additional payments and an increase in the outdoor grazing premium.
The protein price rises to 6.87 euros per kilogramme (March 2013: 6.15 euros). The fat price in April 2013 remains at the same level as in March, to 3.69 euros per kilogramme.
The guaranteed price applies for 100 kilogrammes of milk with a fat content of 4.41% and a protein content of 3.47% and is exclusive of VAT.
