Cargolux receives its 30th new Boeing freighter since 1979


Cargolux named its latest freighter ‘Joe Sutter – Father of the 747’ in honor of the man who designed the 747 in the 1960s. The naming came as a surprise to Mr. Sutter, who only found out during the unveiling of the aircraft during the departure ceremony at Boeing’s Paine Field yesterday. Joe Sutter, born in 1921, joined the Boeing Company in 1940, working at Boeing Plant 2 while studying aeronautical engineering at the University of Washington. Cargolux operates the first ever 747-8F flight to Manaus


Cargolux introduces its advanced Boeing 747-8 freighter on its regular cargo services to Manaus and becomes the first airline worldwide to operate the state-of-the-art workhorse to the Brazilian airport. The flight CV7606 is scheduled to arrive in Manaus on the 25th January and brings a full load of machinery spare parts and telecommunications equipment from Luxembourg to South America. ArcelorMittal sells its Kuzbass coal mines


The assets include the coal mines of Berezovskaya and Pervomaskaya, which together produce 700,000 tonnes of coal a year. ArcelorMittal acquired the Kuzbass mines in 2008 as part of the company’s strategy to secure delivery of coal to ArcelorMittal steel operations in Ukraine.
