The Delhaize Group Fund is supporting 32 neighbourhood projects in Belgium and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg

On 18 November, the Delhaize Group Fund announced the results of its 2014 call for projects, the seventh yearly call since the creation of the Fund. A total of 32 projects, across Belgium and the Grand Duchy of Luxemburg, were awarded support worth EUR 122 000 in the aggregate. The prize-winning initiatives bring together residents from different social, cultural and economic backgrounds. MasterCard outlines plans to end the use of passwords in online payments

The company has been leading the co-creation of a new authentication standard, which when adopted, will be the largest wholesale upgrade to online payment security. It will benefit consumers, banks and merchants alike, with invisible authentication and far fewer prompts for passwords. Delhaize Group announces agreement to sell Bottom Dollar Food store locations

Delhaize Group announced today that it has signed an agreement to sell ALDI Inc. Bottom Dollar Food´s 66 store locations in the greater Philadelphia and greater Pittsburgh markets for approximately $15 million and includes the assumption of associated lease liabilities. The transaction is expected to result in an asset impairment and other charges for Delhaize Group of approximately $180 million. The ‘Schools of Tomorrow’ programme has been developed to bridge the gap between funding needs and available resources for school infrastructure in Flanders and Brussels. 165 schools will be built or renovated under the initiative, with a total build area of 625,000 sq m. A total of €1.5 billion will be invested, making it one of the largest public private partnerships (PPP) in Europe.
