The prestigious award recognises contact centre sales advisors who demonstrate exceptional levels of sales and vocational competence, achieving consistently strong results and making a real difference to their company. Geraldine fought off stiff competition for the award, with over 250 eligible employers in the South West who collectively employ around 52,000 people in both the Public and Private sectors.

Geraldine has worked at the company since 2003. As part of a 58-person passenger services team, she deals with a wide variety of enquiries, making bookings for the company’s ferry services to France and Spain, as well as its wide range of holiday packages which includes cottages and villas, hotels, golf courses, apartments and camp sites in France, Spain and Portugal.

Gareth Bewley, Brittany Ferries’ Passenger Services Manager, commented: “Geraldine’s award is richly deserved – she’s a loyal, passionate member of the team who always goes the extra mile both to help customers and colleagues. Her commitment and professionalism exemplify the high levels of service and care we aspire to offer all customers, be it over the phone, via social media, face-to-face, ashore or on board.”

Geraldine commented: “The job provides great variety – not only do we talk to customers over the phone and online, but we also help them face-to-face at the Ferryport. For our customers, travel and holidays are happy times and it’s a pleasure to share in that experience with them. It’s immensely satisfying to be able to make a difference to their journey.”

The accolade is the latest in a string of awards for the company. In 2013 it was named Best Small Tour Operator to Western Europe, and Best Small Camping and Mobile Tour Operator in the British Travel Awards. In addition, it was voted Best Ferry Operator in the 2013 Telegraph Travel Awards.

The South West Contact Centre Forum awards are open to all companies employing more than five people within a contact centre based in the South West of England. They are impartially judged by the Welsh Contact Centre Forum team members, as well as other industry experts and have been recognised as a distinguished award since 2009.

Brittany Ferries has been based in Plymouth since 1973 and carries around 2.4 million passengers each year on its routes from Plymouth, Poole and Portsmouth to France and Spain.
