The three new DSLS members are:

  •          Senior Principal Engineer Sue Hoff: Sue’s distinguished career has spanned 36 years at Amway. She is affectionately known in her department as the “Queen of Cookware,” because of her work on Amway’s cookware lines. Her experience across all Amway brands has consistently and positively impacted brand strategies, technology plans and lab operations. She is an inventor with 19 U.S. patents granted in addition to 28 U.S. patent applications and 83 foreign applications.
  •          Senior Principal Research Scientist Jesse Leverett: Jesse began his career at Amway in April 1997 in the Beauty Product Development group. Since then he has continually identified and developed innovative technologies, including the Red Caviar Concentrate used in Artistry Youth Xtend Ultra. He has led the Artistry Scientific Advisory Board since its inception in 2007 and continues to actively engage its global members. Jesse’s work is widely published. He also has 15 patents and numerous industry and Amway awards.
  •          Senior Principal Regulatory Policy Michelle Stout: Since joining Amway in 2003, Michelle has worked in both technical and managerial roles. Now, leading Amway’s Regulatory Policy strategies for nutrition, she continues to collaborate with governmental affairs, key opinion leaders, technical regulatory, legal and Amway R&D leadership to support and advocate strategies that positively impact regulatory environment for the global dietary/food supplement industry. Since 2011, her work has influenced 51 regulations across the globe that yielded a total business impact of $1.7 billion.

“Each of these individuals has accomplished outstanding technical achievements and exemplifies the highest standard of behavioral competencies as a mentor, collaborator, and advisor,” said Catherine Ehrenberger, vice president of Amway Research & Development. “Their day-to-day efforts – and quest for quality and innovation – are truly amazing.”

To recognize Amway’s longstanding record of scientific and technical excellence, the company in 2013 established the Research & Development Distinguished Scientific Leadership Society. It is the highest level of technical recognition one can achieve at Amway R&D.

The criterion for selection includes demonstration of technical credibility through past awards, patents, publications and significant impact in the areas of innovation, scientific leadership, experimentation, mentoring and collaboration. It is reserved for employees who have been with Amway for more than 10 years.

Amway’s three new inductees join Ernie Brumbaugh, Amit Chandra, Ph. D., Don Pusateri, R. Keith Randolph, Ph.D., Rick Roth, Ph.D., Ron Sharpe, and Tom Hamernik (retired) to make up the Society’s 10-person membership.
