- Nilson Report has ranked the largest private bank in Russia, Alfa-Bank, amongst the top European banks of issue of Visa, MasterCard, Maestro, JSB, Diners Club and American Express credit cards.

The Nilson Report ranked banks from 19 countries. Eight of 50 ranked credit cards belong to British banks, four to French banks, nine to Turkish banks, six to Spanish banks and two to Russian banks.

Founded in 1990, Alfa-Bank is a universal bank offering main types of banking operations available on the financial market, including private and corporate customer services, investment banking, leasing, commercial and structured financing.
Alfa-Bank is the largest private bank in Russia by total assets, total equity, customer accounts and loan portfolio. According to IFRS financial results of 2012, total assets of the Alfa-Bank Group comprising OJSC Alfa-Bank, subsidiary banks and financial companies, stood at $45.9 billion, total equity amounted to $4.2 billion and loan portfolio totaled $31.8 billion. The 2012 net revenue reached $829 million.
As of January 1, 2013, Alfa-Bank had approximately 82,000 corporate customers and 8.9 million private customers. The bank has 511 branches and offices in Moscow, Russian regions and abroad, including a subsidiary bank in the Netherlands and financial subsidiaries in the United States, the United Kingdom and Cyprus.
